As the question states, can a soldier decline attending ALC due to the short time frame between graduation transitioning out of active duty?

You can. There is usually a commitment for schools but I believe they removed it due to the ability to transition to the Reserves or when you come back. If you want to decline it you can but you would be shooting yourself in the foot.

SGT (Join to see) - You still have to go. You can not show up and get dropped but that would be a poor showing. I would go. I went to PLDC, former version of BLC, when was less than a few months out from getting out of the Regular Army in my first term. I had about a month left in the Army when I finished it. I am glad I went to be honest. It is a professional development school. It can benefit you outside the Army also.
