To whom it may concern,

I am currently in the navy, and stationed in Guam. I am an E3 and wanting to switch branches of military to either the army or the marines. I am 100% not interested in the navy. I want to stay in and serve and fight for my country, but the navy is just not for me. I have a 5 year contract and joined 10jul13. My LPO is saying the "blue to green" program does not exist. Is there anyway I could switch branches before my contract is up? And does anybody know how I would go about doing so?

Looks like this is the form you would use to learn more:

https://my.goarmy.com/info/form/GetBrcFormRedirectByUrl.do?url=/info/btg

"Voluntary information shared with the U.S. Army will not be shared with any other party and will be used for recruiting purposes only."

Also, more info here: http://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/current-and-prior-service/continue-serving/transitioning-services/blue-to-green.html

I have had a few troops over the years apply for Blue to Green but it is based on your current service releasing you and the Army having a slot for you.

I read the information you gave me. Thank you. I will fill out the form now. It appears my division is not behind me on this. Is there anything my chain of command needs to know before filling out the form or contacting a recruiter about it?

I know all my troops that applied had to get approved by the Squadron/Group and Wing Commanders and have their AFSC (Rate) Functional authorize them to be released.

TSgt Joshua Copeland - thanks for jumping in to assist PO3 (Join to see) with this. I have to admit I had no idea what this was, so you taught me something new today!
