When i was an NCO I always treated my soldiers as if they were members of my own family, and I was very protective of them. I feel like that mindset has gone out of the window in today's military. What are your thoughts?

well to tell you the truth I have seen that a lot. I treat my soldiers like family as well. We are a dying breed but it shouldnt be this way.

I have tried to do that as well. Even after Soldiers are no longer serve with me I still do my best to help them out. I have put in several retroactive awards of the CAB for Soldiers who qualified but were not put in for it before the ETSed.
I see it less and less these days, in my opinion this is because a central selection board doesn't know you, they only see your file and it's hard to put taking care of Soldiers on your ERB.

Does a serious incident report have to be attached? I ask because my unit is no longer active and I have tried to get SiRs for the incidents but I have been told that they were not always done or that they might be in the daily logs. My deployment was March 2003-March 2004.
