I was previously a 13F in 2-82FA Regiment. I am now in a medical unit about to reclass to 68P so I am getting my ASUs ready for school. Can I wear my FA RDI? Regs are conflicting and vague. Thank you

Can you? Yes Should you? Not really.
"Soldiers may wear the RDI for their affiliated regiment or may wear the DUI for a unit in which they are serving or have previously served successfully, based on their assignment history as indicated in their official personnel record"
If the unit you currently serve in, is associated with a regiment, my suggestion is to wear that RDI/ DUI
If you wish to show you do not want to be associated to your current unit, where a RDI of your choice that is authorized, but not affiliated with your current unit.
Accept most if not all unit leadership will disagree with your choice and accept the second and third order effects that come with your choice.

My understanding of the regulation is you can wear any DUI you are affiliated with. Affiliated can be very loosely interpreted.
What I did was wear my previous DUI when I was reclassing because CADRE prohibited us from wearing the DUI we were reclassing to it was a graduation thing. So per the reg.............. I was affiliated with MI per my DD214, MOS qualification, and a certificate literally saying the verbage SPC Lesher is Affiliated with the MI Branch. So that was my little spite to the CADRE trying to make everyone look more newb like. They totally didn't care at all.
Going forward, I think it is in poor taste to wear a previous DUI you are not currently working in.
Consider this:
What is the impression it gives other soldiers, subordinates, peers, and those who review you for awards and promotions when you are not wearing the DUI of the MOS promotion you might be seeking?

Speaking from this end of the equation - one of my Soldiers in my previous squad was a 15-series awaiting reclass to 68G - not as much as one may think. It's very much a "YMMV" type thing, but I will say the same thing I said to the OP. If the unit is going to make that big a deal of a Soldier wearing uniform items from a previous MOS or unit, then it should be on the unit to issue them the proper items.

The only reason that I would wear the old DUI is if I had gone to combat with that unit, especially if I had unit citations that were awarded to the unit while I was there. Otherwise, I concur with SGM Erik Marquez you are likely to have some negative repercussions for your choice.
