National Security trumps (har har) all other issues this election cycle.

Please go to the link and support Senator Webb.

Jim Webb is the best candidate running for president -- by far.

Besides graduating from Annapolis at the top of his class, being first in his class of 243 lieutenants at the Basic School, being a platoon and company commander and winning a Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in Viet Nam, he was a committee general counsel, congressional staffer, official in the Defense Department, SecNav and senator, he is a NY Times best selling author, has the screenwriting credit for "Rules of Engagement" and he even has a bleeping EMMY.

But the thing that is so awesome is that he resigned as SeNav in protest of what the SecDef asked him to do. It blew me away at the time. Who does that? The story is that the SecDef Carlucci asked him to misrepresent facts to the Congress. He laid it on Carlucci at the time. Awesome. Specifically he was asked to misrepresent the usefulness of a new class of Navy warships.

The Week All Of The 2016 Presidential Candidates Lost Their Minds
Except for Martin O'Malley. [and Jim Webb]

So, this week on the campaign trail is going to go down in history -- hopefully! -- as one of those long, regrettable nights after which you wake up lamenting the things you said and did, knowing you could have done better, and now it’s time for you to pick through the wreckage and salvage what you can of your dignity.

You know, let’s have a little forbearance. It was a difficult period for all of us. We’re all so sad at what we saw happen to our friends in Paris, so angry at the sadistic death-cultists who perpetrated the deeds and so frustrated that there’s nothing to which we can lay our hands to put things right in this instant. The presidential candidates, no matter what you think of them, are human like the rest of us. And now we’ve loaded them up with some heavy psychological demands.

So, we’re hoping that some of the loopy debate answers, the hair-raising talk of interning or monitoring American citizens, and the weird you-can’t-really-mean-that lack of compassion for some of the planet’s most desperate and victimized people were all just a passing moment during which everyone’s “ever-loosening grip on the commonest courtesies slipped.”

Because it has to be that ... right? Otherwise everyone’s gone nuts! On this week’s First To Last, we remember a week when the pure products of America went crazy."

MARTIN O'MALLEY
Honest to God, Martin, you did good this week. We didn't want this moment to pass without pointing out that you deserve credit for making it through a very tough week without losing your head. Really. Nice work. Thank you.

Other: Let him run as a Republican or as a Democrat. Probably a Democrat. They really need a candidate, don't they? I have never seen a poorer selection than the current crop of Democrats. The Republicans have lots of choices: Youth, vigor, and outsiders. People are liking the outsiders these days. They're tired of the old warhorses ("Old" being the operative word for Clinton and Sanders). Independents have a long history of disrupting elections to no good end. They never win. They only help the poorest of candidates win by bleeding votes away from the more viable choice.

CPT Jack Durish I say this with no malice, mind you, but the GOP will not win the presidency in 2016 and will be lucky to have a viable candidate in 2020. IMHO, it's primarily because of the "my way or the highway" approach far too many Republicans have adopted as well as appealing to a far right ideology that forces them to keep going further and further into right field or risk losing support.
Capt Walter Miller I'm not sure of what Sen Webb's position is but like CPT Jack said all Independents have done since Ross Perot is drain away votes from other candidates that would have succeeded. Also, Sen Webb would have to have an almost Beatles-like appeal to overtake Bernie and Hillary this late in the campaigning cycle.

SSG Michael Hartsfield - HRC's negatives are very high. Reagan Republicans will vote for Webb. Many different constituencies will go for him if properly informed.

Yes. Hopefully this is the first real independent challenge for the presidency. It HAS TO WORK.

He can only run as a Democrat if he is pro-choice.

I would need to know his position in immigration reform and separation of church and state before I could endorse.

If he would nominate SOCIAL conservatives to the Supreme Court then I cannot support him regardless of qualification.

Ah --- does that outweigh our problems overseas?

You want Carson, Cruz, Rubio, handling that? Or worse - HRC?

Bloomberg: Candidates Should Face Tests on Iraq and Libya
March 22, 2015
by Albert Hunt, Bloomberg View
Every presidential candidate should face pressure to answer, explicitly, these two questions: Given what we now know, was it right or wrong to invade Iraq in 2003 to oust Saddam Hussein and, eight years later, to help topple the regime of Muammar Qaddafi in Libya? ….
Jim Webb, the former Democratic senator from Virginia, decorated war hero and perspective challenger to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, says both interventions were a mistake, positions he has held from the start. ….

Mistakes made overseas can last a long time, but Bush 43 and the GOP caused the current mess, not Obama or Clinton.

A social conservative who appoints social conservatives to the Supreme Court, however, won't just do damage overseas, but right here at home. Citizens United and Hobby Lobby decisions allowed billionaires to buy our elections and let's a business owner shove his or her religion down the throats of their employees. Progressives, in the other hand have made it illegal to discriminate against gays and understand that the wealthy have to pay a larger share of taxes than the poor.

So yes, I'll vote for Clinton over a social conservative any day of the week.

To my knowledge Jim is very big on separation of Church/State. He's very quiet about his own religious beliefs and tries to keep it out of his politics. He's gone on record saying he's pro gay-marriage.
