The idea behind ALM 2015 is good in my opinion.  The implementation of it can be questionable at times.  On Ft. Sill with the FA and ADA AITs, we uses ALM 2015.  To many people this is considered to be limited to homework and some jeopardy
style systems.  This implementation is not always the best.  When used correctly it actually makes more sense for it to be in NCOES utilizing techniques such as guided discussions and things different from just pure lectures.  With AIT, it becomes a little more difficult in that it is not always easy to guide a discussion on topics that are technical or with Soldiers who have no experience on the systems.

I am a firm believer in ALM 2015 when it is done right and is not used to check a block.  The method
has proven to be rather successful in my training of new troops and when I went to ALC recently.

We at the Army Reconnaissance Course have been one of the first courses to use OBT&E now ASLT&E.  It takes well seasoned NCO instructors who are SMEs in our field.  The course forces the students to DEMONSTRATE their understanding of what they have learned (classroom environment versus field training). There is no "check the block" as in past courses.
