We often times push our interests on our kids, and they, with the intentions of pleasing us, go along.....did you?
This leads me to my question:
Do you push your interests onto your kids? Ie. Scary movies, working on cars, football or wrestling, even the military.
And this leads to my second question:
Are you living vicariously through your parents..... or somewhere along the way, did you find your own hobbies, interests, and profession?
I really tried to impress my parents, I ideally wanted them to be proud of me, and worked hard at seeking their approval.
Did you acheive your goal, winning the approval of your parents?
Somewhere along the way, they surely said they were proud of you....but have you told your kids you are proud of them? ...don't repeat the cycle if your parents sucked...be the parent that you wanted...be the parent that was awesome.
Im interested to see how many people were told they were awesome, and then there were the parents that we couldn't do enough for....

I would like too but they are just to busy doing so many things that I have no interest in except when FOOTBALL season comes then it is a family event nothing like sport to join and bond a family together.

This is a bit personal, but I'll nibble just a bit. I jumped off a "chosen" path for me once I joined the military. I got my support from my long-term goals. That was enough for me to not worry about what others thought. If this forum had tags, it would've received more attention, I'm sure.

Is it possible, vicarious living can trick us into believing that we can share the fullness of their victories while shielding ourselves from our childrens defeats? But is all an illusion? because eventually time goes on and we’re still not pursuing a calling worthy in this human experience. Decades can and will go by and we’re still on the sidelines with a hollow feeling and an itch to get out and live.
