Are they taking away promotion points away for correspondence courses? I know they are doing away with deployment points, NCOES, and have already done away with SSD points. I was looking up the reg and it didn't say anything about it, but I wanted to double tap before I have my soldiers do correspondence courses that will not count for anything when instead I can have them focus on college credits..

Does that mean you need less college to max out college? Before it was 1 point per semester hour for 78 points max for SGT, meaning 26 classes worth 3 semester hours were need. By making it two, it seems like you only need 13 classes to max...which contradicts what they said about making education a priority for promotions

When it says "Maximum Points", does it means that you need a 5/5 for them or a 3/3 will get you the points but anything above wont give you anything extra? I'm confused about this.

So, with a typical SGM response I will say this, correspondence courses whether they are worth points or not is irrelevant. Soldiers should do them regardless, especially the ones that are directly related to their MOS. I know most Soldiers "cheat" but if they actually completed the courses, they might actually learn something...what a concept.

I have yet to see anything relate to my MOS or anything that i would even need or want to learn, correspondence courses are a joke and always have been, especially the amount of time they want you to put into them they practically force you to cheat. Soldier in high density MOS's are forced to get an associates degree max correspondence max awards and beg and plead to get into that resident class that is always full cause they only have enough slots to train those who need it. Meanwhile the guy next to you that does the same job as you and you do his job because the army likes to "cross-train: is promoted over you because he spelled his name right on his ERB. the point system is a joke as a whole it always has been.

I agree with you Larry, the point system is a joke. I have yet to see any course having anything to do with my MOS. He classes are so boring and put you to sleep, I doubt anyone actually does them 100% on their own. Of course a SGM would say that soldiers would actually learn something if they do them. It's about the points at the end of the day, despite what SGM said, I'm sure he didn't do them for nothing.
