Are the Reserve Components shouldering too much load?

The Navy has shifted over 80% of the Individual Augmentee deployments to the Reserve Component. Given the demands of balancing private sectors employment against reserve mobilization, does the Reserve take on too much for its members to handle?

I think as the need for deployment drawing down more deployments will go towards active component and less from reserves so the individual augmentees would be the only way for some reservists to be deployed and maintain competitive with their peers that have deployed already.

I tend to agree with you. Force shaping will encourage some people to go forward because of better promotion potential. Will the Reserve retain the best leaders as a result? That remains to be seen.
