Hi,
Department of the Army Pamphlet 611-21 states that a Soldier must be E5/SGT after training for accreditation as a CI Special Agent. IIRC this was written before CI was opened as an entry level MOS, but if it still applies wouldn't that mean that CISAC graduates must be promoted to E5 similar to how 18X contracts work?
If not, what do lower enlisted CI guys do?

Thanks for the answer. I have already read every post on Rallypoint regarding 35L and have not found an answer to the OP question, hence my asking. Most answers to any specific questions asked typically boiled down to "call and ask your local 902nd MI station", but as of last July 902nd MI is no longer an active unit.

The DA Pam, if you've read the correct one, was not written before 35L accepted entry level applicants. Also, contrary to popular belief, 18X are not automatically promoted either, they are promoted in the normal manner and are required to attend a promotion board, their points are just so low they pick up as soon as they meet all the requirements.

The requirement to pin SGT is completing BLC. Once a 35L completes AIT and BLC they will be promoted immediately to SGT.

They made the change from previous service to entry level but that will not include an NCO grade. There is a lot outside of being a CI that an NCO has to Be, Know and Do. You may have a negotiated entry offer of E4.

As for comparing 35L to 18 series, they are nowhere near the same accept to say that 18 series can receive training the CI realm.

So it is very specialized it is not the same as 18.
