How do we expect our Children to succeed if we don't Provide them the Proper tools they need to be Successful! What is happening in the Detroit Public School System is Disgusting and Disgraceful! Every child, wherever you may be deserves an Opportunity to Succeed.

Ultimately it was FDR's "new deal" that killed Detroit combined with failed liberal policies, high taxation on automakers and unions.

So when schools depend upon local property values for funding and that tax base tanks to almost nothing... how are schools supposed to survive? The only solution is for all taxes on education to go into a Federal pool so that all schools are able to attain a common standard.

Why does the Federal Reserve have a balance sheet of $4T? To take care of the banking/wall street. A little present from the anointed one. My son is paying for student loans and will be for a long time to come. This program took away and reason for competition for student loans and provides for an out on the debt as it comes due. Do a little more research, SSG Mark Colwell. I appreciate a good exchange without the vitriol normally accompanying them. Appreciate the back and forth.

You keep jumping from one subject to the next. What does this have to do with ensuring kids in neighborhoods in economic distress, have the same opportunity to succeed as kids in prosperous neighborhoods? There is no reason for the solution to provide yet another opportunity for Financial institutions to fleece us.

If you can't keep up, take notes. I have been responding to your comments with facts. Sorry that is not an acceptable strategy.

They have had how many years of one party rule. Even in Californa we are represented by two parties. And I know it is lop sided. They fight over who can give away more stuff. And the most important thing to them if transgender or feeling like one . You can use the woman's room.

Yes, I agree that the future is the children. I need to read more on the Detroit school situation. My first read indicates that there is fault on both sides.

While doing that, check out why the problems with school funding is a problem. It's associated with the huge pensions and medical benefits being received due to corruption between city government and the unions.

Seems as if Black lives matter with the exception of Chicago and Flint. No sweat, they will still vote Democrat, so this will blow over quickly since the anointed one will grace the auto show with his presence.

For better or for worse, and my fear is the latter, the children are indeed the future of Detroit. Half of them will graduate from high school and be functionally illiterate. That doesn't bode well.
It's universally acknowledged that competition spurs innovation, upholds quality and holds down costs while monopoly does just the opposite, causing stagnation, shoddiness and inflated prices. So why is it that we are surprised when the education of our children, which is now a government mandated and operated monopoly, fails? If we really want to end this, we ought to institute a policy in every state whereby parents get a voucher good for the amount each school district spends per pupil per year for each child they have that's good to be spent at ANY accredited school within that district. Problem with this is that the Democrats won't ever let it happen; they launder too much taxpayer money through the teachers unions into their campaign coffers to ever allow that.

I would hope that the children are the hope for earthly the future in Detroit and elsewhere SPC Andrew Griffin. The best earthly hope for the children is stable homes with parents and neighbors who love and watch out for them. Schools can build on stable home environments but they will never be a good substitute for them.
The real hope is in the atoning work of Christ. I hope and pray that Detroit will stabilize and that good teachers will be attracted to work in the school system and that parents will love, nurture and protect their children.

I would be so daring us to suggest that there seems to be a cold real dilemma within the politicians in Michigan as a whole. Given the situation in the town of Flint right now, I think that we can see the decisions they are making are not necessarily the best. Does it rest on the governor's feet?
