In my experience it’s varies wildly in a case by case basis. When I left the army as an e-4 a lifetime ago I was young and stupid. When they gave me a PT test a few weeks before my discharge I laughed and didn’t even bother trying. Result: RE-3 on my DD214. Skip ahead to after 12 years of university and a PhD later. First recruiter told me to get reckt, found another that really saw value in what I’ve chosen to specialize in and pushed the issue; I had a waiver approved and in hand in a matter of days. Really depends on your recruiter and the reason behind your code, as well as how well your personal statement explains said behaviour and how you plan to/have rectified it. It also certainly helps if you’ve spent your civilian time bettering yourself... all of this on top of how specialized your training is and how in-need of your MOS whatever branch your choosing is.

Just to clarify, first recruiter was a local station type, once I managed to get moved up the chain considerably things started working out

A long time. Hell they discharged 25K folks this year for being non-deployable.
