I searched for Ft.Drum but could not find it. OK, there used to be a Rod and Gun Club, that once organized bear hunts....not sure it is still active.

Need to register your rifle on post and you can hunt in the training area as long as it's not occupied there is a number you call to find out what's open. If you have a bow and you pass their test you can hunt in certain garrison areas

Drum has some fantastic hunting. http://www.drum.army.mil/PublicWorks/Pages/FishandWildlife.aspx

That link should give you all the information you need. Whitetail Deer, Wild Turkeys, Black Bears and small game are readily available.

It is not difficult to get permission to hunt on the many dairy farms in the area.

If you like waterfowl hunting you are in paradise. You will see flocks of both Canadian and Snow geese that will boggle the mind. There are many lakes as well as the Saint Lawrence river.

If you drive just a short distance to the east you will find yourself in the Adirondack park which has millions of acres of wilderness area to hunt on.
