Anyone have experience writing a LOM for a retirement award?

Best of luck writing it up SFC Thomas Livingston. I made three recommendations on three separate individuals only the first on a CSM went thru. After I learned of the “unwritten” requirements under the commands I served I had a real lesson in the “ politics” involved at getting a LOM for deserving Soldiers. Just be sure you get your COC guidance on it both written and unwritten. On the 638 it’s “see attached” then either a one page or more supporting it with another page with the proposed citation as well!

Sending you an email. I've processed 3, only 1 got approved. Mind you these were COL with over 30 years of service and multiple deployments. IT IS HARD to get approved.

I looked into it. I am not Audie Murphy nor wss I a former Brigade Commander. 2 or 3 Star approval needed. I got the MSM instead. If you have 3 or 4 MSMs then it's easier to get a LOM
