Any recommendations for a quality, non-military issue ruck/pack?

I'm looking for a pack to use during GoRuck challenges and things of that nature and to train for an eventual EFMB road march. I have an old Blackhawk pack that I bought for my 1st deployment in 03, but it's finally starting to fall apart. I know GoRuck sells their own line of packs, but they're pretty pricey. I've used mostly internal frames in the past, but I'm open to suggestions.

I believe the old Alice Packs sit better and there are different type of pads you can buy so that are much more comfortable.

I am big fan of Mystery Ranch packs. They are expensive though. Got issued one in my last SOF unit (they are actually civilian packs though).

Any suggestions on the type of training I should do so that I can try one of these challenges?

You definitely need to do a decent amount of rucking beforehand, but they throw in a lot of other things as well to "smoke you" like animal drills with our pack. You definitely want to be in shape, but regardless of your physical condition you'll be pushed at some point. They have different lengths. The "Light is 5 or so hours I think, the "Tough" is around 12 hours, and the "Heavy" is 24+ hours. Honestly it can be a pretty miserable experience, but after spending too much time behind a desk it helps me feel like I'm not too "soft." I know it's all an illusion though, I'm still softer than Charmin.

OK so I made it through basic training back before they had cards saying "stress" or something like that. I am still in OK shape I walk at least 4-8 miles 5 days a week. That I know is not enough ! Can you advise me on the type of training I should do? Or any links you can direct me too? Thanks
