October 14 I go for testing to hopefully begin my career at the Missouri Department of corrections, I'm a little bit nervous and have a few questions so is there anyone here that either works or worked for the Missouri Department of corrections that could possibly answer a few questions?

Well, i am going to jefferson city for the tests but i would like to be either near Colombia or warren county. We still live in IL at this time but i have a buddy who works for clark county PD who will let me stay with him if need be. I am not to familiar with the state, my wife is. We were looking at houses in Lake st louis tho.

I lived in Columbia for several years. I drove to work at the prison Central Missouri Correctional Center known as Churchfarm. it has 2 sections to it. the medium security and the minimum security.
the video testing to see if you meet the standards of what the are looking for is not hard. the then you have the physical and interview part. be honest with the interview section. if you aren't sure about a question tell them you aren't sure.
once you are passed that, you will get a letter in the mail requiring to report to class for training or to a building to get uniforms etc. classes are a must. you cannot miss those. they also give tests after sections. those you must pass. if you fail, I think you have 1 chance for retake. if you fail you're out. once that is done you your weapons training then go to the range for qualifications. you will already know which prison you will have been assigned to before your classes start. you will even meet your training officer at the prison before your classes start.
I enjoyed working there. just remember they are locked up 24/7 so they will test you and try to get the best of you since you are new. be tough going in, then if stay that way. do not let them know anything personal about you. they will try to use it to get on your good side.
I know this is a lot of information and I hope it helps you some. Good luck to you. Although I am sure you will do just fine.

Well, i was denied employment for what ever reason, i scored a 98% on my testing and passed the interview. I sent in a appeal letter and should hear back from them any day now. Do appeals normally get approved?
