What do you feel about mandatory comments on OERs and NCOERs? Did the Soldier complete the 360, do they support the SHARP program, etc. Do these really tell you how they lead and how they perform their job?

I would say for the SHARP comment it can depending on how it is written. The 360 survey does not tell me anything about if the officer can lead or if they can do their job. It just tells me that they can complete a task online.

Thoughts?

I'll admit that I'm not up to date on many of the changes to OERs and NCOERs since I've been retired for several years now.. but mandatory comments has never made any sense at all to me.... you end up with thousands of ways of saying the exact same thing (for the most part) on every evaluation.  Bottom line.. if EVERYTHING is a priority, then NOTHING is a priority.

I believe that since people could not be honest enough when subjectivity was allowed, there is an overload of including every objective things as possible.
