WASHINGTON—While the U.S. and China have made strides on climate change, including a new pledge from Beijing to cap some emissions and put a price on carbon, President Barack Obama is under pressure to narrow differences between the two countries over economic and security issues as he hosts Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.

I'm sorry. I can't get past the opening statement "While the U.S. and China have made strides on climate change..." Seriously? Yes, the US has improved air quality. Anyone living in the Los Angeles area can see that. They can see, unlike the 1960s when they couldn't because of the smog. However, there is no evidence that any of that has altered climate, none whatsoever. Now what stride has China made? What evidence is there that it has altered the climate?
Beyond the first statement comes a much more interesting though unrelated issue. Please tell me what US-China economic and security issues have to do with climate change...

I bet China thinks Obama is weak and spineless and will just ignore any of his requests...

NO, but the President will assume his normal position and bow to the Chinese leader and perhaps whine a little bit. "Hey, brother, can you spare me a dime" should be the first words out of his mouth.
