Do you believe a 3D printer could "build" a house for use in emergency situation?

SSgt Alex Robinson They're printing human organs with them. They'll be able to print houses. There is no limit to what can be printed, given the correct feedstock (and size of printer). Remember, they don't have to print the WHOLE house...just parts of it that can be assembled. 3d printing is basically macro nanotech.

There's a printer in development right now that was be used to build large scale items such as houses and cars. They are already working to build houses for the homeless using this process. I think that this is an excellent idea, especially if the technology becomes so mainstream that they rebuild entire communities within a matter of months or even weeks.

Yes SSgt Alex Robinson; but, it would be similar to a house built on shifting sand that would not likely withstand an onslaught of wind or hail. :-)
