They want to save 12B over the next 25 years, why not drop some of the weapon systems procurement or developments that will never make it the troops. Or why build a super carrier when we don't need it and it takes years to get it into service, build smaller less expensive ships that can be in service faster. Army has said repeatedly they don't need more M1's but Congress (or shall I say the Congressman that represents the district where they are made) want the Army to buy more tanks. The list goes on and on.
But here is my real sticking point, I deployed 4 times, I'm now retired with 22 years of service. But I'm a Guardsman, so I have to wait another 8 years to collect my pension. They will shrink down the AC and rely more on the Guard/Reserve components in case of future war, but sorry we can't give you your retirement until your 60. Yes I know minus the deployment time. Tell that to a 38-40 year old that went in after high school, retires and has to wait almost 20 years for a check after deploying several times.
If this passes, good luck getting recruits or keeping people in, especially those over the 12-15 year mark.
