COL Jean (John) F. B. I'm not against recognition through patches but I don't like this patch. I have a lot of thoughts at once. The symbolism on it is too reminiscent of symbolism in the area that stands for what we're trying to extinguish. Honestly I think it looks in particular like an Iraqi artist's work. It looks like something from Saddam's reign.

I don't know why you think it's reminiscent of Iraq under Saddam, CPT (Join to see)

Not good. Promotes divisiveness and validates ISIL's existence as a state.

No we aren't. Nobody thinks ISIL is a country. Heck, ISIL doesn't think it's a country. It's an organization. Everyone knows that, and of course we can go to war with an organization. Heck, we just spent over a decade in a war declared against an abstract concept (terror)..

True and I'm not saying we can't fight them at all. It seems our only disagreement is about the patch. I don't particularly like the official patches anyways but I'm not in the Army!

Wearing this will boost esprit de corps? Really? Someone should have slapped the sh*t out of the good idea fairy over this one. All this dumb patch is going to do is validate ISIS/L, waste taxpayer dollars, and give someone who was bored a good bullet on their eval. Sheesh.

1LT William Clardy - Well, I fully intend to do a PCC/PCI prior to heading out for this mission. I will ensure that I have several pieces of the most flexible part of a fishing pole. But, as soon as those pieces become battlefield lost, I will let you know.
