Starting to clear tomorrow, unit wants me to do an additional duty over the weekend?

My orders state that 10 days prior to leave I show up for one formation for accountability and that's it, does that exclude me from additional duties? I'm off the da 6 for cq and staff duty. Also there isn't a da 6 for this duty, it's kind of just whoever whenever. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

Usually a good NCO/ Officer, when notified, will rectify this asap. I would (As your NCO) find another soldier to volunteer to cover down on you and in turn I will take care of them in the future for this volunteering. Should be that simple. If they don't, well... go up the chain of command. This is too simple of a fix to let it screw you over. Good luck SGT (Join to see)!

I did 23 yrs 11 months and 23 days with honor, because it took care off me and my family for all those years. The morin of my final out,i was in PT formation ruining with the unit. I did this in all my units until i retired. When i told the commander and 1SG it was my last PT formation, they were shock. I told them you're a soldier until you final out the post, not the unit. Remember, we volunteer, there's no draft.

Obviously you are in a rock and hard spot. No DA 6, so you shouldnt pull the duty, but at the same time, you were given a directive. Yet, your orders give you different directive. Do not pass GO, go straight to your NCO and get guidance. That would be your best bet.

As MSG (Join to see) said, 'go straight to your NCO and get guidance' is the best answer. Give 'em your orders and offer an alternative so you don't get stuck with something to do when you've got orders saying otherwise.

The day will come when you will miss what you find so unacceptable now. Sure would like to meet up with some of the people from my past assignments, for duty or a beer.
