Has anyone ever asked how many people you've killed?

This one always disturbs me.  It's kids, mostly, but adults have asked it as well.  They seem to have a morbid curiosity; unaware that the big guy on the screen playing Rambo isn't what soldiers are really like (For the most part).

Has this ever happened to you?  How did you respond?

I really don't like getting asked that question CW2 Jonathan Kantor. For the kids, I answer with something along the lines of "there were some tough times, but we all did our jobs real good and we brought everyone home." When it is someone I do not know, or someone I do for that matter, I ask them why do they want to know? I have yet to elicit a response worthy of me going any further in that line of questioning.

I usually deflect the subject, especially with kids.  If it is a real friend asking I will just say probably...  But strangers and people I don't really know get a verbal beatdown.

I just say "nope"... It normally moves the conversation on to something else... It's pretty easy.
