I'm currently attending EOA course at DEOMI, and I will be assigned as a EOA at the installation level in Fort Sill, OK.

With all the new changes in the military, I am glad I am not one anymore. If you have a good command group, you will do fine. I was one from 2005 to 2010 had a great command group when I left, not so good when I started. Only advice I can give if you want to take it serious, don't sit in your office, get out and talk to Soldiers.

why do I find it slightly ironic that you almost never see a white male EOA? I've been in the military since 1984. I've seen every race and gender in every type position with the exception of EOA. I find it oddly amusing that the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY advisor is almost always a black female.

Sir, during my class. We had a very good diversity of gender and race. One of my classmates was a white 42A female, and she was assigned to one of the Brigades of the 101st at Fort Campbell. But, I do see the need to increase those numbers. At my current assignment there aren't any female EOAs. Something, I brought up to my Program Manager.

Maybe it's just me or small sample size. I have been assigned or attached to 9 different units over the course of my career and the EOA for every one of them was a black female.

Actually I was one, I am a white male. But I also served with a Hispanic Male, Black Male, and Black Female.

I don't think I would SFC (Join to see) . EEO keeps transforming. At one point it was primarily focused on improving understanding and respect among fenders, races and ethnic groups. Over the next few years, EEO will probably transform to include sexual preference, trans-gender people and other groups we are not currently aware of.
The mission while originally laudable may soon become to diffused to be effective in terms of providing good advice to commanders in ac hanging environment
