The other day I happened to be with my girlfriend visiting the grave of one of her family members. Nearby I happened to notice an older grave. Engraved was the name of the deceased, WWII, and "P SGT."

I know what a SGT(P) is, but I've never heard of a P SGT before, and google has failed me. Does anyone know what this is?
P SGT was a Platoon Sergeant and was a SFC. Of course, not all SFCs were Platoon Sergeants. This is the way the ranks were done in the Vietnam era, from what I have read. I am assuming that it was the same for WWII.

Thanks for the info! It had been bugging me so it's good to finally understand what it means.
