Should the "I" in EIB and CIB be changed from "Infantryman" to "Infantry"?

With the integration of females into combat arms and the new CIB testing being implemented is it time to make the EIB and CIB names less gender specific?

Infantryman is a genderless noun like Policeman, and Fireman are genderless nouns.
Just because something has the word "men" in it doesn't imply a gender bias. The word women has "men" in it.

1LT William Clardy honestly, I look at a lot of this as "unnecessary" BS. Why fight over anthills when there are mountains worth going after.
If the change is worthwhile, eventually a memo will come out just like when the military quietly changed the words husband/wife to spouse in all official documentation. Complete non-issue. Why are we making it a bigger deal that it needs to be?
When we use words like "Mankind" we don't have to caveat it. Or Human. I don't get hung up on the 3rd wave feminist ranting too often... but hell. The need to change the lexicon "unnecessarily" when there is no implied offense, no implied privilege, etc.. why bother.

But it is *entertaining* BS, Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS! How much more fun it is to ally yourself with the forces of righteous indignation than to confuse yourself with the tedious details of trying to make a sensible (or plausibly labelled "sensible") decision in the face of incomplete and contradictory facts.

1LT William Clardy You don't know how many times I would walk in on my guys "ranting" about some news piece, whether they heard it on the radio, or saw the cover of the latest Marine Corps times, and have to just dead stop and say "Did you actually read the article?" Five minutes later, the rant is going the complete opposite direction than it was before.
"We" (Human beings & the Military) love to bitch about anything... I think it's our number 1 time killer, because we can't sleep 100% of the time.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS, that's why my standard response to "I shouldn't whine" is "Of course you should -- if you do it creatively enough, it's great entertainment when you've got nothing else to do!"

1SG (Join to see) and SGT Jerrold Pesz Since I don't see any other women jumping in here, I will do it. I vote for leaving it alone, not because of heritage (which is a great reason) but because we are suppose to be adults and not act like children. Can we please just get over ourselves and move away from all this touchy feely nonsense.!? That said I'm sure, to be PC, it will eventually be changed to just "Infantry".

We do it to ourselves trying to assume what you all are thinking ma'am, we know. We are guilty of the same things in marriage! Thanks for playing

Yes - you're saving ink and money! (make sure you have your sarcasm font reader turned on for that one)
On a serious note, no. Keep it infantryman. Heritage, laziness, and I just really don't care. It would be like me getting offended over being called a combat cameraman. There are more important things to worry about. Like dinner.
