The best move for any enlisted person is to find an accredited college that will put the maximum number of ace credits toward their graduation and then attend on the post 9/11 gi bill and come back in as an officer.

College, always college. Thomas Edison seems to take the majority of ACE credits for a quick Associates. I submitted all of mine, plus two NCPACE courses I took on one of my cruises and I only need 11 credits now to gain my AAS. personally, I don't have a major that I want, nor do I really care to go back to school, so i'm just taking the easiest and fastest degree plan.

I would think shore duty would be more beneficial for senior leadership to see your proficiency in leadership qualities and prime you for more quality assignments that get you promoted ahead of peers while getting better mentorship from seniors as well as guidance.
Just my two cents though.
