Does Central Florida have a volunteer guard service for disaster relief I can get involved with?

I originally transferred out of active service into the Nevada National Guard.
Both times in service completed honorably.
Since then, I PCSed to Kissimmee.

Florida doesn't have a State Defense Force so either CAP or the Coast Guard Auxillary

If you can't find a guard function to do the job. I would suggest looking into the Civil Air Patrol. It's the official civilian auxiliary to the Air Force. Anyone in good standing can join. They are big in providing Disaster Relief/Emergency Management services. They provide various functions from running an incident command center to providing ground teams and air assets for various missions. You have the option to participate in the para-military part, wear modified AF uniforms, or you can chose to wear CAP distinctive corporate gear.

Thank you Maj. Shaun Stanton.
Wouldn't be bad going back into CAP. Just been a very long time! LOL

Florida has one of the best put together Civil Air Patrol set ups of any state. They do NASA patrols and disaster management... It's quite "legit" as the kids say these days. I suggest getting into the CAP down there and making a difference. Your connections could lead you towards other paths in the area. Also, FEMA has some self development courses with certifications. I would suggest taking those to the fullest if you have not already. Always give yourself the best training so when you end up in command you show 'em how it's done. Good luck.
