I have fond memories of this truck.
Learned to drve a stick on it. Could pull from a dead stop in 3rd. It could go through and over any thing. A non mechanic coud work on it. Some models hou could urinate in the fuel tank and it run. You couldnt flip it. Interchangeable parts. Rock solid engine. Easy to get going again after sitting for years. Solid axels. Many other things to list but will stop there.
Too many issues with the 900 series and I wont get into that LMTV Turd (Electronic pushbutton transmission, ugggg). Nothing seemed to have its capability since. Many are still on the road today and some units still use them.
Or is it just me?
Anyone have a good memory of one you used?
Im listening!

The only thing I dont miss about that truck was the first time I ever drove one and almost broke both thumbs because my TC didnt tell me about the rule of thumb when driving that beast.

Manual Steering. That was a slight issue to get used to.

SGT(P) Harry Clyde Jr. - yea, AFTER my thumbs were almost snapped, THEN he tells me to keep them out of the steering wheel. Probably just trying to teach my trial by fire still. But, I did learn never to do that again.

Never ran into that problem. Mine was figuring out shift clutch at first. Didnt have a drivers licence at the time and the only othèr vehicle I drove previously was a first gen humvee during desert storm.
It was all new to me.
