How difficult is it to get a position in a MEPS as a medic? Will it hurt or help your military career? Is there a 30 slot position available working at a MEPS? Trying to think of options for my next career move and not sure which way to go. Would like to get a duty station of choice after my time here on Hawaii.

Can't speak to MEPS as a 68W assignment, but as a provider I would rather crawl across a dozen miles of broken glass into a pool of lemonade than work a MEPS. AMEDD recruiter an option for you?

I haven't looked into that Sir. Not sure. Going to research it and see how it goes. Thank you

As far as Recruiting goes, AMEDD is the way to do it! Just got done with a 3yr. stint. Its not nearly the nightmare that enlisted recruiting is, trying to chase down punk ass high school kids all day to make mission...

Most of the uniformed spots at MEPS for medical are offered as ADOS position at 180 days or so for guard and reserve component. When I worked at RAleigh Meps I was the only reservist and the other techs were active duty corpsman there on three year orders. They hated it, you don’t use your medic skills much at all. You give briefs, do eye exams, look at genitals for UA, take HIV blood samples and pack specimens for testing at the lab I worked 530-1400 everyday no weekends that was the only good part. The 1sg was awesome though. You’ll work with mostly GS civilians who put most of the work on you

Thank you fornthe response. As a medic, I am now working in OPS, so not using medic skills any longer. That is par for ranking up. Going to SLC in a few months so don't see that changing either. It's what they say, as we progress in our careers, it's mostly admin work. Was thinking of MEPS as a broadening assignment which hopefully will get me to California, closer to my family.

Working at meps is an easy kushy job but if it’s close to your family I would say go for it. At the end of the day all you do is process applicants SFC (Join to see)

I went to the Raleigh MEPS for my processing. Lots or people I see on here go through Raleigh, small world.
