Liaison Duty in a Role 4 MTF

Has anyone performed and been rated in this duty?  If so, what was your daily job scope; also your reporting chain; in addition were your duties to a large task force then just a BCT size element?  Where you given enough contacts and set up to successfully do the job required?  With the Army pushing down troop numbers but trying to sustain a regional aligned mission; is this a role that will be a enduring task for BCT commanders to consider?
