I am currently a ali promotable sgt trying to re-enlist reclass to a mos that is not accepting promotables. Is there a way to wave this? I keep getting told no. Regulations would help this situation. Thanks

ETS, take a break, and then talk to a recruiter. Go to MEPS. Since you’re prior service you will not have to do medical. As long as your PHA is up to date. Go to MEPS and sometimes they will let you pick and choose the MOS you want. Active Duty Army Retention is a tough shell to crack sometimes. I ETSed, enlisted guard, hated it, sent a condition of release packet in. It was accepted. I went to MEPS and reclassed with ease.

Now keep in mind that it’s always based on the needs of the army if you go this route. Know what you want because they call the Department of the Army and they riddle out MOSs. Let them know you want 15 series. Just know it’s possible.

There is no regulation to really support these facts. The available jobs, and their quails are in the MOS smart book, and can be found by your Career Counselor on Retain and the retain policy messages that only Career Counselors have access to. I am assuming that you have talked with your Counselor already. There is no waiver for getting someone in a job that has no vacancy in the or that the strengths through the in/out call message does not support. Also you can do some good research on armyreenlistment.com on this subject.
Depending on the strength of the MOS you are trying to go to and your current one you may be able to request a voluntary reclass through your career counselor.
