Is it the old colored flag or the new one? Is there a difference for the the deploy environment compared to garrison?

the flag should ALWAYS be full color, I hate the subdued one, why does the DoD violate flag code

Subdued when in the field or deployed. USAR - But what does DEPLOYED mean? Answer: "Members of the Reserve Component shall be considered to be deployed or in a deployment on any day on that...they are performing active duty [...] at a location that is not their permanent training site and is either 100 or more miles, or 3 or more hours travel time, from their permanent civilian residence." - DoDI 1336.07 (2009)

Tactically speaking
What perfect way to give up concealment from the enemy by having a bright ass colored flag down range
Subdued makes sense for being deployed and in the field

I have no idea, the War Department knew how to put a flag on the right shoulder, but DOD does not. Some crap about thinking that enemy thinks we are retreating. Never read any reports that the krauts thought that our troops were retreating because the flag was properly attached. I would wager they never even thought about it. Some folks in Germany should ask some old Wehrmacht solders if they did! LOL

If you are CONUS, only the full color flag is authorized for garrison wear. Commanders have discretion for field wear of the uniform if the full color flag represents a risk in terms of camouflage. Same goes for operational deployments and combat deployments.
To emphasize, any form of subdued flag is not authorized for garrison use. If a subdued flag is to be used in a field or deployment environment at the commander's discretion, it should be the issued IR reflective flag (technically not available for commercial purchase and only available for issue prior to a deployment but we all know the deal). What is not authorized in any way shape or form is a subdued, non-IR reflective, cloth flag.
