So I'm sure you may have seen either on here or on Facebook that RallyPoint will be hosting a get together in Washington DC on Oct 13th. For those of us that are able to make it, it promises to be a great event and I'm excited to see as many of you there as I can. SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" is saying he'll be there so you know shenanigans will be afoot.
Anyways, it got me thinking about hosting ones in other cities such as, yes you guess it, Pittsburgh, PA. I know Pittsburgh is only 4 hours away from DC but this region has a lot of great thing happening in it that the RallyPoint community could benefit from and I know that echos across the country.
So the question is this, looking at the region that you are around what major cities do you feel would be a great place to host these sort of meet ups? I know other members have had them either on a smaller scale in the past and these sort of events take a lot of resources to make successful so put some thought into it. I spoke with LTC Yinon Weiss and he's open to the idea of entertaining a few ideas as long as the traction is there to really make it worth everyone's time and effort. So what say you RallyPoint?

I think if ANY place should have one, it's North Carolina, we have more military here than pretty much any place you'll ever go. Probably in Fayetteville.

Good point. The one reason I highlight Pittsburgh, other than its where I am, is the in 2010, the census showed over 220,000 Veterans (50,000 being Post 9/11) Veterans calling the region home. That gives Pittsburgh the highest count in the state and within the top 10 of the country only behind places like Ft Hood and Fayetteville. I would love to see what Fayetteville is doing to help all the Veterans that call that area home.

I think it's easier for vets here Sgt Keen, simply for the fact that there are so many bases here and almost every community I've been to, even here in the Winston-Salem area is pro-military. This is a military state and accordingly, there is infrastructure in place to support those troops and by extension vets/retirees.

I would personally love to see a meet up in The Lone Star State! I haven't been a member of this community for long, but since I have been I haven't seen anything for good ole' Texas. I'm closer to Dallas/Fort Worth but if that isn't popular enough, Austin or somewhere in that area would be good.

PO2 (Join to see) - There is a great Post 9/11 Veterans organization that you might like to get involved with down there. I'll send you a DM.

PV2 (Join to see) - Is there a town you don't have a favorite haunt in? I still love that piano bar we all went to in SC after RPx!

We have a full VA hospital and a outlying clinic all within city limits. We are also the home of the Badgers. I am currently a Senior at UW Madison.
