Wondering if anyone here is now or has been involved in the fields of college/campus security or police work? I found myself, quite unexpectedly, getting into this field after leaving the service; I've found it to be very rewarding and have advanced from the patrolman ranks to directorship of the department. I am interested in networking and sharing ideas and offering to mentor when/where applicable. Best regards to all!

I tried contacting a local university about applying for a campus police job, but my message has gone unanswered so far. I'm thinking I may have to kick in a couple of doors and make my introduction in person.

I'm a mall security, Is better if you can do police field(but require police academy), But if you want an easy field do security, College security is better to be then mall.

I've been in the college field for 15 years since leaving active duty; was in the reserves with another former 11B who was working mall security-we had some similar experiences, but the college set is definitely an exercise in throttling back the impulse to straighten the kids out like the young privates I had worked with just a few years before!

I think the college set is also an opportunity to translate military background into a very unique and rewarding career. I've had the benefit of working for a college that has made the investment in a quality proprietary force-some colleges go the route of contract security through big companies, and while experiences vary, overall it is not a great fit (very impersonal)
