I have to brief my class on something that has happened or is being discussed within the last year that affects all of the branches or the Air Force alone. I'm horrible at topics. So throwing one out there would be great.

Well, it's a class so it should come from what you feel is important to you in the military right now, what's affecting you that you're A) Happy for, or B) Disappointed about.
But...if you need help, some topics that are getting a lot of publicity, which should have a lot of information available are
1) Transgender Equality in the Military (Should Transgenders be allowed to serve openly?)
2) Allowing all military members the authority to carry arms (Can you really trust ALL members of the military with a weapon 24/7?)
3) Budget Cuts (Last year we lost A LOT of people to the "Hunger Games")
