CH (MAJ) William Beaver - The only thing that will fix Ferguson and every other area like it, where lawlessness is rampant and the police feel like their hands are tied, is to use the necessary amount of force to arrest all the lawbreakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
Yes, because of the liberal press and the race-baiters, that will simply generate more lawlessness. That, also, must be met with the required amount of force. To do nothing and simply allow it to continue and grow will only make it that much harder to do it later. We must confront this now or just give up and let the law breakers take over our country.
Frankly, I am tired of seeing the US go to other countries in an effort to solve their problems and ignore the ones we have in our own country. We need to clean up Ferguson (and Baltimore and Detroit and Chicago and Los Angeles, etc., etc.) now. I see no real difference in what is happening in our country now than I see in the other countries where we are trying to "re-establish law and order". Let's clean up our own house before we worry about someone else's. We need to stop backing down to these thugs and use the force necessary to take them down.

SFC Mark Merino - It would not be easy, but neither was cleaning up Mogadishu and the large number of other hell-holes we have been called upon to clean up. The majority of the population would support the police taking necessary action to reestablish law and order in our cities.
Because of the Posse Comitatus, federal troops (Military Police, for example) could not be used, but National Guard Military Police could be called in by the governor to assist the police. The reason I say Military Police is that they are trained to perform such missions and are more "politically acceptable" than, say, an Infantry unit. Case in point, when the President of the US told the American public that he was sending in a Military Police brigade to Panama, nobody batted an eye. If he had said he was sending in an Infantry brigade, there would have been hell to pay in the press. The Military Police are "an iron fist in a velvet glove" and are very useful for this type mission. Not sure if it is still the same as it used to be, but, as I recall, the majority of the members of the National Guard Military Police units were police officers. Most (probably all) current National Guard MP units have recent experience in law and order missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. To me, there is not that much difference in what is happening in our cities. Send them in and clean the place up.

Pretty soon you run out of cheeks....you have to take the town back, and you do that by the citizens of the town taking it back, believing in themselves....the clip here is from one of my all time favorite movies (High Plains Drifter) where the "Stranger" (Clint Eastwood) paints the town red and teach the townspeople to stand up for themselves......there are parallels in this movie to Ferguson today.
