With IPPS-A in place, what are the new steps for submitting for Retirement from the USAR?

I want/need to start getting ahead of the curve for this process. Outside of the required documents of support, is the process started in IPPS-A or with S1?

IPPS-A.
Submit a PAR under the self-service. The 'Effective Date' will be your date of retirement and select "Admin Records Correction" for the 'Action'. An additional box will appear and select "Voluntary Retirement Request - Enlisted"
Make sure to include the supporting documents* (check to see if there are any that local policy requires as well) as attachments to the PAR.

I know this doesn’t pertain to your question, but is good information once you’re out and in the gray area.
For Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Air Force Reserve Gray Area Retirees, there is a new avenue to stay connected and informed between the time they stop drilling and the time they start receiving retired pay.

I submitted my retirement packet earlier this year. Along with required documents, ensure your points are correct. Mine were erroneous due to technical problems with migration of systems. A correction request (done in IPPS-A) can take months to process. If points are incorrect, packet can be delayed.

Issue is 100 points, but years of qualifying service. Old system had me at 20+ good years. IPPS-A initially had me at only 5 years despite 20 year letter in iPerms. My correction request took months to process.
Check your points and submit a correction request immediately if needed.

LTC Eugene Chu - Ironically, under the old system, I was missing about a year worth of points. IPPS-A migration found about 1.5 years of points
