Sgt (Join to see) I know this was posted about a year ago and you likely have a different perspective than when you posted it. I'm curious how connected it was to the Commandant's (at the time) re-awakening message. Other Marines, including the SgtMaj of the Marine Corps and the Commandant himself agreed with you that discipline as slipping, and charged all of us, but especially Cpls and Sgts to stem the tide. Was that connected to your original post? Have you seen improvement since you posted? Have you led improvement since you posted?

It was not connected at all I was just so fed up with lackluster Marines and their disrespectful ways, I have always kept the standards and enforce them so that will not change.

Sir I have always been ahead of the times, I say what others won't and do what's right no matter the consequences. My father used to say that right can be done in the wrong contex but wrong can never be right

Sgt (Join to see) I'm surprised, given that the letter was released a month before your post here, and where I was at the time was mandatory reading for all Cpls and above when released. Maybe your command wasn't enforcing the rules as well as it should have systemically. It's good to hear you're focused on maintaining the standards, as when we fail to enforce the standard we create a new one. Make sure your fellow Sgts and your Cpls have read the message and are committed to leading their Marines.

Sgt (Join to see) , as NCOs in the United States Marine Corps, it is our duty to ensure the proper training of our Marines. Not only in our job field but as Marines in general and that includes ensuring they have discipline as well as the 14 leadership traits and the core values. Training and molding don't stop at the parade field. They continue through the career of all Marines.

Your question is rather vague yet bold at the same time brother. It's a question that is expansive amongst now not only 1, or even only two generations. Your question is in fact so large that it's hard for anyone to sum up in one 'blog' or /vent rage if you will. You, we, are handling the future. Right now, in our hands, IS the future of the USMC. If you don't like it, change the Marines under your charge. Discipline them. Moreover, EDUCATE THEM. Failing to educate a marine is failing Marines in general. Getting a bit off topic... I will wrap up with this;
If you feel Marines are no longer as disciplined as we as a whole once were, discipline them yourself with peer support, the appropiate way. Uphold the VERY high standards that we as NCOs MUST enforce to maintain order. Maintenance of order and morale will lead to a well disciplined Marine/troop. If the troop is not getting with the program, show them the door. A personal favorite Major of mine has a self infamous quote in the shop, "Man the fuck up, or get the fuck out". Sure, it's a little blunt and rough around the edges but if you look at it deeply, it's quite true.
