I can tell you this much... prior to starting CPAP, I would have to take a power blink on road trips if they were longer than a couple of hours. After only my first night of CPAP I had a road trip to make and not only did I not have to nap, I was fully alert both ways! This was the first time in years that I found this to be the case.

OSA occurs when you are asleep. If you are sleeping at the wheel, you have some issues. I assume that you mean OSA is leaving you exhausted during the day because you don't get a full night's rest. If that's the case, you need a sleep study and possible a CPAP machine stat! Please be safe my friend!

I have had a sleep study and I will try a custom mouth guard that I sleep with only. I'll try that. I pick it up soon. What if I tried everything under the sun and still having issues?

SGT. If you tried everything under the sum and it doesn't work I would talk to my Doctor. Sleep Apnea is where you stop breathing and they do have a base line. The test should have shown if you indeed have sleep apnes. I have had 3 studys but the last two was to fine tune the equioment. Good luck with this.

I agree! If you are not finding that you have improved with the mouth guard, you need a full sleep study and evaluation. Mouth guards are only good in cases of very mild OSA. If you have not been examined by a person specializing in sleep medicine, you need to be. Also, try to get the study before they suggest an operation called a UPPP. This is where they widen the back of your mouth by taking out the uvula and some of the soft palate in order to prevent the tissues from falling and obstructing your airway when you sleep. To me, this is a last resort only. It is not a fun operation.

SGT. I have the sleep Apnea but never tried a long trip. Couple of hundred miles so can't say how it does me. My wife is at the sleep study lad tonight of all things. I have been on a CPAP for years. Got to have it.
