Does anyone know what a "raider" is when it comes in the mail from the VA?

A letter delivered to me gave me a death notification of someone I do not know and threatened to decrease my benefits effective retroactively from Feb 2022. When I saw the VSO and told him the original address it was sent to ("Anywhere NY, 12345") didn't make sense he said it was a "Raider" notice. Just curious if anyone can define that term for me.

Maj Joan Marine I could not find anything about a Raider Notice but I would not worry about a scam notice with a fake address and fake threat. The VA would not decrease your benefits based on someone else dying. You might want to report this to the VA and see what they say.

It appears that this was not an official letter from the Dept of Veterans Affairs and you were quick to identify it as a probable scam. I don't think that "raider" notice is a widely recognized term, however, I have heard it used narrowly in cybersecurity channels related to phishing scams to trick people into giving out account or personal info.
