How many ships will the Navy go through named "Enterprise" before one of them is a star ship?

This is obviously a little farfetched (or is it?) but with huge technological advances, our fleet looks more like something from a Scifi thriller than what existed in WWI or WWII.

What do you think of the new laser and railguns for the advancement of our Navy?
A less serious but legitimate question, if the US were to have "starships" would the Navy or the Air Force own them?

Oh with the way the Navy recycles everything they'll still have sound powered phones from WW2 and DLR's from the 80's on that starship.

lol Right? When I was in Deck, I used to play a LOT of pranks with sound powered phones.

Still remember sitting at GQ in Radar 3 waiting for my turn when the call came out every 30 minutes. "All Stations Report" while onboard The Enterprise.

But will we still need batteries for the sound powered phones? :)

I can't predict the generation answer but certainly by 2060 we'll have some form of interplanetary action going on, but inter-stellar? No way to know, but everybody thought automated cars were still decades off, so it would be sooner, rather than later.
As far as what branch - I suppose it'd be a new branch but uniforms of a Navy would seem most appropriate since pretty much every Navy on the planet all use the same rank structure (easy to read sleeve chevrons). They are, after all star ships.
In re the rail gun and lasers...Best things since sliced bread. Better projection, better stand off, cost effective, proven technology. This is the way forward. Everything SDI was supposed to be.
