Look in FM 7-22 under special conditioning programs. You will find what you need.

I believe no real standard, but must be lead by someone who excesses the standard. One trained on knowing what limits to push and when to stop. Also includes lifestyle training to include nutrition. That is a good start.

Best Remedial PT NCOICs are the ones who have struggled with PT but are good now. a goal of 300 doesn't make for a good motivation tool for the individuals who are struggling to get a 180. I've found those naturally athletic NCO's don't understand and can't relate to individuals who are struggling and both sides are continuously frustrated.

MAJ (Join to see) - Most naturally athletic NCO's are only natural in one or 2 areas. They may have had the fight earlier on in their life. In high school I ran four 10:00 2 miles. When I started track and cross country I got last place in every race and event that I participated in. I was motivated, and put a lot of work in. I was running 7-14 miles a day. I got to the place where I became the team captain and competed very well. Upon entering the Army, everyone thought that I was a "natural" athlete. Sometimes this made me feel as if they did not realize how much work I had done to get to where I was. Push-ups and sit-ups were another story. I have had to push myself on a daily basis in order to improve my upper body strength. Now I am competitive in those areas also. My challenge is not to write off every NCO that you might see as a "natural" athlete.
I do not relate to a soldier "struggling" to get a 180, if they are not putting in the time and effort that I had to put in in order to get where I am now. If I see a real fighter that is struggling, I am the first to jump in and encourage and give guidance. I have led remedial pt, and am vested in the success of all soldiers.

I don't know that I've ever seen an AR that covers remedial PT. Essentially it's just more PT until they've done enough to pass an APFT. If you need something official in writing, there is an appendix that covers remedial PT in FORSCOM 350-6

Absolutely, the standard for remedial should be 180 points on the APFT. If they are in remedial focus on the failures.

Read chapter 6 in FM 7-22. It is no longer called remedial it is called Special Conditioning Program. As an MFT I am part of instructing it for my organization.
