I am a TPU Soldier without any contractual obligations, currently serving on ADOS orders, can I transfer to the IRR while on orders or is it necessary to reread or complete the orders and transfer while back in TPU status.

In the past it was easier and most commands prefered you transfering prior to the ADOS to free up space (an so you didn't have to be under 2 commands for admin/UCMJ.etc.). However, with IPPSA, I'm seeing that the system will not allow a transfer while in the middle of orders. You can submit the request (PAR) and see what happens.

I did that in 2012 so I could deploy to Afghanistan. I was on a 365-order with my unit in Illinois when they received a request for someone to go to Afghanistan I volunteered to go but I had to transfer to the IRR so I would not hold down a slot in the unit while deployed So yes, it is possible. But your unit has a say in it. Good luck
