OK Resident Experts, I can think of 2 meritorius advancements for Celebrities for selling our profession. Gunny R Lee Ermy and HMC William "Bill" Cosby. Are any of you aware of any others?

If you want to go old school, then John Wayne with all the USO support he did back in the day along with all the military roles he portrayed during his day.

Aside from these two I am unsure if there are any more meritorious advancements are warranted. Audie Murphy should have been considered for this honor, but whether it would happen is the question.

Clint Eastwood, as he has promoted accuracy and many roles of military service over the years. He has also done many charities and support activities for the military as well.

I believe he's talking about actual meritorious promotions given to somebody not serving at the time. For example, R Lee Ermey was promoted to E-7 by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, 30 years after he got out as an E-6.

My bad, but if I remember correctly Eastwood was in the Army during the Korean War, and even though John Wayne never served and he wanted to and even tried to, he was better utilized as a symbol during the war and later in all the war hero movies he acted in, so in their own ways they could qualify in one way or another, at least in my opinion. Thanks for the clarification though Sir.
