I know some other variations of this topic have come up, but I wanted to ask a different question. In light of the recent tragedy and act of terrorism on OUR SOIL against OUR MILITARY MEMBERS, I wanted to know if any of you would consider getting together with your fellow veteran buddies, arming yourselves, and visiting local recruiting stations RANDOMLY to show our support and to show our enemies that we are united and plan to protect our own.

I am. My friends are. I'm hoping others will be doing this too.

I am in favor of someone doing something. For me personally, I wont do it because I work at the times that the recruiting stations are open.

I would do it only if requested and only if it was organized by the military.

No plans here. As I've said before, the terrorists win by making us change our way of life. Having armed people on our streets is not what the US is about. That's what places in Africa and the Middle East are about.

Interesting response. I see your point. I guess whether we do this or not, things WILL be different here in the good ol' USA. Fast forward a year or two... let's say that terrorist attacks become as common as they are in Israel. Will you still ignore that situation to opt to not change your way of life?

I see it like that. I'd rather make the change now, proactively.

To each their own, brother. I definitely understand your statement.

If they continue, maybe I'll change but look at the UK. Did they have heavily armed folks on corners when the IRA was setting off bombs? I was working in Eastern Europe and went to London to meet with our corporate folks. Since the food was not all that great over there, I told one of the staff there that we had to go out for good food while I was there. After we ordered, the beer came and then the police telling us to leave because there was possibly a bomb out there.

I do doubt though that terror attacks will become as common as they are in Israel. I would also say that if they do, we need to come up with proactive solutions as to why they are happening vs reactive responses where we don't get to the root of the issue.

If I am wrong and they become more common, I might change my feeling. Not for me myself but for my two boys and wife. Funny how family changes your priorities a bit.

I would also add that I'm more worried about my kids getting in car wrecks.
