It is no secret that Veterans are some of the most passionate, caring, and opinionated people in the world. We stand strong together to help each other, reminding the civilian population of what issues we face. But as I scroll through the forums here and elsewhere, I begin to think. Is there a line between speaking our minds and beating a dead horse? Yes, we need to be vocal and tell our stories regardless of what others may think or say. However, are they topics out there that are either unsolvable or no longer an issue that we as a community keep bringing up and be seen as "beating a dead horse"?

SGT Ben Keen But we are really great at beating horses!
RP is like all social media, Avoid Religion, Politics and Money, if you don't want conflict. BORING!
We LOVE conflict it is WHAT WE DO!

I think the problem....you arent going to convince anyone of anything.
People are not seeking to learn and understand and have spirited debates - they are looking to bludgeon you with their opinion (confederate flag, racism, Hillary worshipping/hating, etc).

MAJ Jim Steven, that is CPR, and electric paddles to revive the dead horse; the past. Some men resist change; Suffragette movie due for release in August is the best example.

MAJ Jim Steven - You are right, you can't convince everyone. Through my exchanges here, I'm not looking for someone to say "you are right SGT Keen". Heck there are somethings I'm completely wrong on. All I try to do is remind people of the other side of things. If that be some discussion I have with a news reporter or here on RallyPoint, we sometimes forget there is our side, their side and the truth.

I'd say it's a fine line. Everyone likes to feel they are heard (me included).
