Are there any restrictions to reclassifying during my first Army Reserve contract?

Hello all,
I am in my first Army reserve contract as an 88N, Transportation Mgmt Coordinator.
I am looking to reclass as a 31B MP, and am wondering if there are any restrictions to reclassing during my first contract. The strength table that I've done research on labels N/N for 2022-23.
Will the reclass school be located at Ft. Hunter Liggett? What type of chain approval will I need to request with my Reserve unit.

Sooooo.....if the IN/OUT Call for your MOS of 88N is N/N...then you will not be allowed to reclass out. At least for the current FY, that is. This could all change come 1 Oct when it becomes FY24. However, I have to ask, how long have you been in and when does your Reenlistment Window open? Also, did you get any kind of enlistment bonus for 88N? If you do eventually get 31B, you will go where your orders say to go. Could be Liggett, could be McCoy. Hell, the powers that be could decide to send to FT Leonard Wood. For approval....you will, of course, need to speak with your Reserve Career Counselor. In fact, all your questions can and will be answered by that person.

If the IN/OUT Call for 88N and 31B are both N/N, will I be able to reclass if I re-enlist for the new 31B MOS?
This is my third year drilling. I'm not sure with my reenlistment window but my ETS is 20280227. Bonus was $7k for NPSEB.

Soldier.......If your In/Out Call says N/N...then you CANNOT reenlist into a different MOS.
You are not even in your re-enlistment window. A standard Reserve Contract is 8 years. 2 Years IRR and 6 Years Active Reserve. You have been in for 3 years. That means that you have another 2 years before your re-enlistment window even opens up. Therefore, unless you decide to go Active Duty....what you want will not happen as of now. And, if received a bonus for your MOS...if you switch....then you pay back (possibly prorated) that bonus. Seriously, talk with your Career Counselor.

SPC (Join to see) - There are a couple of other situations that override the the In/Out Call, but neither apply to you in your current situation (mentioning them for completeness in case they come up from a 'barracks lawyer'). One is for critical shortages (they will be identified in the In/Out Call message) and the other (for reserve component Soldiers) would apply only if you were permanently moving outside the established reasonable commuting distance to your existing unit (100 miles/3 hours).
As MSG (Join to see) said, talk with your Career Counselor.

I'm pretty sure that the IN/OUT calls only apply to Active Army.
To reclass in the Army Reserve there are two options.
1. extend/reenlist for a new MOS/unit when you are 365 days out from your ETS.
2. demonstrate that your current unit of assignment is a financial hardship for you (distance traveled) right now, and there is a much closer unit to your home of record that has a vacancy you can transfer to, that happens to be that MOS you want to reclass to.
The reclass school options for 31B also include a few National Guard RTIs, including the 223rd RTI about an hour south of Liggett.
Pro tip: if switching to MP is really about trying to get hired by a police dept, most PDs prefer any MOS except MP, so they aren't "un-teaching" any bad habits from MP that don't translate to policing... In other words, apply for that job now. If you still want to be an MP once you are a cop, then extend for that reclass in FEB 2027.
