Jesse Ventura tells a real SEAL that they should have lost more men...and then gets punched in the face.

BMCS(SEAL) Don Shipley (USN Ret.) says Jesse Ventura is a SEAL so that's good enough for me.

Calling Jesse Ventura a "Fake Seal" is a bit of a misnomer (to be kind) and completely disingenuous (to be more fair).

This story also resulted in the Chris Kyle estate being sued, as it was proven untrue.

On July 29, 2014 a jury awarded former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura $1.8 million for a defamation suit he filed against Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

I don't think we will every know exactly what happened on that day, but the courts have ruled that at least part of that story was fabricated.

Thoughts on this settlement and the impacts it has on the Kyle family and former Governor Ventura?

Per my own post, the statements made are "inaccurate." I will not speak ill of the dead, as Chris Kyle cannot defend himself, but there is large controversy regarding these and many of his other claims (including his book).

CW3 (Join to see) Gov. Ventura didn't sue the family (specifically). He did sue the Publisher, so this shouldn't affect the family or what they were already paid from the book deal up to that point. It may affect the "back end" however.

I think Gov Ventura was absolutely correct to sue. He was having his named dragged through the mud. In this case it was both Slander & Libel, as confirmed by the Jury. I don't know what the root of the issue was however. Everything I've read on it shows they had no (or limited) previous interactions, and Gov Ventura had no direct beefs with Chris Kyle.

It's not semantics. You either joined a Seal team or you didn't. Ventura didn't want to go to Vietnam, so he joined his brother in UDT 12 and lived to become a punching-bag in wresling. He certainly never served in combat or killed anyone as he sometime implies. He has little credibility in the truth department.
