Should we be arming selected NCOs and Officers that interact with the public?

If the Federal Government allows vetted Commercial Airline Pilots to carry sidearms behind reinforced cabin doors in an effort to secure cockpits then the same thought process should apply to Recruiting Stations and Reserve Centers.
Obviously this would be limited in scope and I'm certainly not advocating for Recruiters to wear Kevlar but this is not the first instance of a soft site being targeted and it is simply common sense.

Capt Seid Waddell, exactly brother. We can carry a gun during combat or while standing an armed post but we can't carry in our day to day routine?

Unfortunately, with the current threats, which will continue and increase... military members at home are now targets. I believe more, if not all need to be armed. If everyone has a gun, at the ready, I am sure many (not all) would think twice.

I draw the analogy of pilots for a contextual point of reference that is governed by federal law. In Aviation Law parlance the codification of changes to reflect safety deficiencies found in an NTSB Report is referred to as 'Tombstone Legislation'.

When I enlisted, all four branches had offices in a strip mall. They all had the same plexiglass windows. They all had the same crappy plate glass doors. Had someone decided to attack them, they could have walked down the line killing all of them without breaking stride. In another post I suggested this solution
1) Inter service recruitment center with separate offices within for each branch
2) Armed Homeland Security officers standing watch
3) police style under the shirt body armor for the recruiters.
That would at least be a start to showing that the safety of these soft target facilities is a concern.
